Backstory

Daerian was born in the kingdom of Skadi as the son of King Jehan and Queen Lunete. When Jehan's Lord Marshal Aldegar staged a blood coup, killing both the King and Queen- but not before Jehan's loyal housecarl Renaud managed to take the infant Daerian far away from the capitol.Daerian was left in a small coastal village called Midler's Point, where he was raised by a fisherman named Erwick. Daerian lived a simple, earnest life until he was 18. Aldegar's court soothsayer warned the treacherous tyrant that the missing prince of Skadi would take up arms and ultimately overthrow Aldegar. In a fit of paranoia, Aldegar tasks the Skadian army with finding and eliminating Daerian.Daerian was soon found and the military razed Midler's Point. It was only by the aid of Renaud, who had been running a resistance against Aldegar's reign, that Daerian escaped with his life.With his old life destroyed, Daerian had no other path than to carry the hope of a free Skadi.

Daerian's best attribute and worst flaw is the same thing: he is humble. While he is kind to others and sympathizes with the plights of the commoners, he also sees himself more as a commoner than as the nobility he really is. As a result, Daerian is wracked with doubt and fears he will never be the king that the people of Skadi want him to be.Despite this, he puts on a brave face and takes up arms, both in service of Skadi and the Order of Heroes. He wields the legendary sword of his father, Hrunting.
